Service Pathways

Three Pathways, Each Built for Its Purpose

Permata Wira's service offering reflects the distinct needs of different watches — from contemporary mechanical calibres to collector-grade vintage references and well-worn bracelets.

Methodology

How Every Service Begins

Before any work is undertaken, each watch at Permata Wira receives a written intake examination. This records the movement's current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and the owner's own observations about how the watch has been performing. This documentation forms the basis of everything that follows.

Service decisions are made from evidence, not assumption. The intake documentation ensures that the watchmaker working on a movement knows its history going in — and that the owner receives an account of what changed and why when the watch is collected. No work proceeds beyond the agreed scope without prior discussion.

Movement servicing

Pathway One

Standard Service Pathway

A complete service for mechanical, automatic, and small-complication calibres, carried out following horological convention. The watch is documented through photographs and a written intake examination noting current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and owner-noted concerns. The movement is fully disassembled, with each component individually cleaned through staged ultrasonic processes using horological-grade solvents, inspected under high magnification, and renewed where wear has progressed beyond acceptable tolerance.

Mainsprings, pivot surfaces, jewel settings, and pallet stones receive particular attention. Reassembly follows with carefully chosen lubrication on each contact surface, regulation across multiple positions on professional timing equipment, and a multi-day observation before return.

  • Full disassembly and staged ultrasonic cleaning
  • High-magnification component inspection
  • Surface-specific lubrication and reassembly
  • Multi-position timing regulation
  • Multi-day observation period before return

Pathway Two

Bracelet Refinishing Service

A focused service for steel, gold, and bi-metal bracelets where wear has accumulated through years of use — stretched links, worn clasp mechanisms, and surface marks across brushed and polished zones. The work begins with assessment of clasp tension, link articulation, and pin condition. Stretched links may be tightened or replaced based on the owner's preference.

Clasp springs and folding mechanisms are serviced or replaced as needed. Refinishing follows the original geometry of the bracelet. Pin and tube assemblies are renewed during reassembly. The result is a bracelet that moves, closes, and sits as the manufacturer intended — without adding a layer of surface treatment that obscures the original material character.

  • Clasp tension and link articulation assessment
  • Stretched link tightening or replacement
  • Clasp spring and folding mechanism service
  • Refinishing following original bracelet geometry
  • Pin and tube assembly renewal

Pathway Three

Heritage Service Programme

A specialised pathway for collector-grade and vintage references, where preservation of originality is central to the service approach. The work follows the structure of a comprehensive overhaul but with extended consultation, conservation-led decision making, and detailed documentation. Original dials, hands, and case surfaces are preserved wherever their condition allows, with conservation favoured over refinishing.

Where parts replacement is required, period-correct components are sourced through specialist suppliers. Each stage of the work is photographed. Timelines run from twelve to eighteen weeks, reflecting the depth of attention and the time required to source appropriate components where needed.

  • Extended consultation and originality assessment
  • Conservation-led approach at every stage
  • Period-correct parts through specialist sourcing
  • Stage-by-stage photographic documentation
  • Original dials and hands preserved where possible

Shared Standards

Protocols That Apply Across All Work

Written Intake Record

Every piece receives a formal intake record before work begins, establishing a baseline from which the service is planned and against which the result is assessed.

Owner Consent Protocol

Any work beyond the agreed scope requires the owner's agreement before it proceeds. This is not a courtesy — it is a firm operating requirement across all service pathways.

Client Confidentiality

Piece details, service records, and client identity are held in confidence and not shared with any third party without explicit instruction from the owner.

Horological-Grade Materials

All cleaning solvents and lubricants used across every service are sourced from horological-grade suppliers. Material selection is based on the surface type, not a one-size approach.

Pre-Work Cost Confirmation

Service costs are confirmed in writing before work begins. Starting prices are published; the final cost reflects actual scope and is agreed before any tools are picked up.

Appointment-Based Intake

Intake is conducted by appointment so the working watchmaker is present to assess and discuss the piece directly with its owner. No drop-offs handled without prior arrangement.
